- ศึกษาภาษาอังกฤษตามหัวข้อต่างๆ ตามที่ได้แนะนำไว้ในหัวข้อที่ 10 ไม่ว่าจะเป็นจากหนังสือพิมพ์ นิตยสาร หรือข้อมูลทางอินเทอร์เต็ตที่เป็นภาษาอังกฤษอย่างสม่ำเสมอ นอกจากนี้ก็ควรฟังวิทยุ หรือชมรายการทีวีที่เป็นภาษาอังกฤษก็จะช่วยได้มาก ที่สำคัญคืออ่านตำราที่ใช้เป็นคู่มือในการสอบ TOEIC ซึ่งมีจำหน่ายตามร้านขายหนังสือทั่วไป
- ต้องเข้าใจรูปแบบของคำถามในแต่ละส่วน และเข้าใจคำสั่งที่เป็นภาษาอังกฤษทั้งหมดว่าให้ทำอะไรบ้าง ซึ่งก็ดูได้จากคู่มือสำหรับผู้สอบ(Examinee Handbook) ซึ่งทางศูนย์ TOEIC จะแจกให้ฟรี หรือไม่ก็ดาวน์โหลดจากเวปไซต์ของ ETS ได้โดยตรงที่ [url]www.ets.org/toeic[/url] ก็ได้เหมือนกัน
- แบ่งเวลาทำข้อสอบให้เหมาะสม อย่าเสียเวลาอ่านข้อใดข้อหนึ่งนาน โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในส่วนที่ 1 ซึ่งเกี่ยวกับการฟัง ถ้าทำไม่ทันให้เตรียมทำข้อใหม่เลยอย่าเสียเวลาเดา และในส่วนที่ 2 ซึ่งเกี่ยวกับการอ่านก็เช่นกัน อย่าเสียเวลาทำข้อใดข้อหนึ่งนาน เพราะมีข้อความให้เราอ่านหลากหลาย ทั้งที่ยากและง่ายปนกันไป
- อย่าตื่นเต้นจนเกินไป ก่อนวันสอบควรพักผ่อนให้เพียงพอและควรไปถึงสถานที่สอบก่อนเวลานัดหมาย ควรมีเวลาพักผ่อนอิริยาบทก่อนเข้าห้องสอบ โดยเฉพาะอย่าางยิ่งในส่วนของการฟัง ต้องมีสมาธิ ถ้าจิตใจไม่แน่วแน่อาจฟังคำถามไม่รู้เรื่องเลยก็ได้
- ฝึกฟังสำเนียงทั้งที่เป็นสำเนียงอังกฤษและอเมริกันให้ชิน โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งสำเนียงอเมริกันต้องฟังให้ชินและสร้างความคุ้นเคยให้มาก มิฉะนั้นจะทำข้อสอบในส่วนที่เกี่ยวกับการฟังไม่ค่อยได้ หรือได้ไม่ดีพอ
- การสอบ TOEIC ไม่มีการวัดว่าสอบได้หรือสอบตก ถ้าไม่พอใจกับคะแนนที่ได้ก็ขอสอบใหม่ได้อีก ไม่มีข้อจำกัดว่าสอบได้แค่กี่ครั้ง แต่ถ้าขอสอบใหม่ก็จะเจอข้อสอบชุดใหม่อีก วิธีที่ดีถ้า้จะขอสอบใหม่ ก็ควรเตรียมตัวให้มากกว่าเดิมอีก เพราะมิฉะนั้นก็จะเสียเงินเปล่า โดยที่คะแนนก็ได้ไม่แตกต่งจากครั้งแรกๆมากนัก
